case studies

Every client is unique and every end result should make a big difference. Here are just some of the many ways in which we’ve achieved this.

  • Surestream Petroleum is a major UK based oil exploration company who specialise in seeking hydrocarbon assets in sub-Saharan Africa.

    • The Brief

Surestream Petroleum needed a multi faceted film that communicated their financial and environmental goals and aspirations for Lake Malawi. The film needed to speak to their current and potential investors but also Malawi’s governing bodies. But  most importantly it needed to speak to the people of Malawi.

    • The Solution

We spent 3 weeks in early 2012 traveling the shoreline of the great lake. We filmed schools, communities, fisherman and government officials and found out what the lake, and the search for oil, means to the people of Malawi.

We created a film that shows exactly why Surestream Petroleum has such a solid reputation for success, corporate responsibility and protecting the natural environment.

The result is a powerful film that tells the story from a grass roots level and captures the spirit and hopes of not only the African people but the team behind Surestream Petroleum.

    • The Feedback

After the success of the first documentary, and winning at the New York Festivals Awards in 2012 for best Public Relations film, Theory Films where commissioned to make a further two films looking at Surestreams operation in Burundi. We also created a high end brand film giving an overview of Surestream.

  • The London Metal Exchange is the world's premier non-ferrous metals market. Today the LME is a modern, dynamic and innovative global marketplace helping metals companies from Chile to China.

    Client:
    London Metal Exchange
    Genre:
    Brand / Education Film
    Format:
    HD
    • The Brief

The London Metal Exchange needed a compelling new education / brand film which would give an up to date overview of the LME for members, investors and interested parties. The film needed to touch on the LMEs history, explain how the LME operates on a global scale and discuss the main services the LME provides; hedging, pricing and delivery.

    • The Solution

We created an 11 minute film that showcases the LME as a leader in its class. To highlight how modern, dynamic and global the LME is we filmed in London, South Korea, Rotterdam and Hamburg. By using cutting edge filming techniques and stand-out motion graphics we captured the essence of the LME as a forward facing and innovative exchange.

    • The Feedback

“The London Metal Exchange’s corporate video is a critical tool used for educating people throughout the supply chain on the role of the LME in international commodity markets. With a relentless focus on quality, creativity and detail, Theory Films took a tired, out-of-date product and helped us create something really special - a film that reflects our growing international user base and the modernisation of our brand. Great job!” Stephen White, Business Manager Corporate Affairs at London Metal Exchange

  • Who is Al-Fresco?

Thomson Al-Fresco provides luxury self catering mobile home holidays with many locations across Europe and operates under the umbrella of Thomson Holidays, a UK based travel operator and part of TUI Travel PLC. Thomson Al-Fresco family holiday parks range from the quiet rural retreats to the all-singling, all dancing campsites with plenty of activities for parents, teenagers and toddlers.

    Client:
    Thomson Al-Fresco (TUI)
    Type:
Brand Film + Suite of films
    Format:
    HD
    • The Brief

Thomson al-Fresco wanted to produce a slate of promotional films for their family self catering holiday packages in France, Spain and Italy. Thomson wanted to promote their range of luxury mobile homes, promote the USP and beautiful locations of individual parks across Europe and a brand film that encapsulated a typical fun family holiday… when you choose an Al-Fresco holiday.

    • The Solution

To keep all the films fun and fresh we opted to shoot with a carefree style and kept every shot hand held so each shot was energetic and right in the action, with a heavy focus on people. The Canon 5D mk 2 and a series of prime and zoom lenses was the perfect kit for the job. The Canon allowed us to capture amazing cinematic images but light and mobile enough for us point and shoot at any given moment.

    • The Feedback

“Because of the current demand for online videos, we saw a pressing need to increase the quality and consistency of our online video content on our website. We teamed up with Theory Films because they specialise in travel films and have a proven track record of producing quality online video content. The look and feel of the films is fresh and distinct, which reflects our brand perfectly. Theory Films have been great to work with, making the process simple, straightforward, and, dare I say it, fun!" Kay Dodds, Senior Marketing Manager, Thomson Al Fresco
